TESDA Director General Mamondiong Breaks Ground for New TVET Court, Awards 2,000 Scholarship Slots
CAPAS, Tarlac – TESDA Director General (DG) Guiling “Gene” A. Mamondiong with Capas Mayor Reynaldo Catacutan led the groundbreaking ceremony of the donation of a five-hectare lot by Capas Local Government Unit at Cristo Rey, Capas, Tarlac on June 5, 2018.
The lot will be the future site of a Technical Vocational Education and Training (TVET) Court for use by Mobile Training Program (MTP) providers to train among others, members of the Indigenous Peoples (IP) Communities in Capas and surrounding municipalities.
In his message, the DG pledged 2,000 scholarship slots to the province of Tarlac in response to the appeal of the Mayor for more masons, welders, and carpenters to augment the workers at New Clark City currently under construction at the Clark Special Economic Zone.
According to the DG, the TVET court will be the venue for training in Agri-technology and TVET programs under the construction sector to support the “Build, Build, Build’ project of the President.
To the delight of those in attendance, the DG promised that immediately upon his return to TESDA Main Office he will order the release of the seed money to start the construction of the training center.
The TVET court with the capacity to train 200 trainees at a time, will have a dormitory and the trainees will be provided with food and financial support to ensure completion of the program.
In the near future, the TVET court will evolved into the new and larger Provincial Training Center which, according to DG Gene, will be a collaborative project of TESDA and Tarlac Representatives.
DG Gene also reiterated the support of President Duterte to the indigenous peoples (IP) of Tarlac as the President is a Maranao from the Higaunon tribe in his mother’s side.
DG Mamondiong also called for support for Federalism to give the power of the purse to the people and enable the Regions/States to have a bigger share of the revenue.
He also assured those present that if Federalism becomes the system of government, President Duterte will resign in 2020.
