TESDA Tarlac Meets Assessment Center Managers
TESDA Tarlac met with assessment center managers at Max’s Restaurant, SM Tarlac on October 13, 2017 to address assessment concerns in the province of Tarlac.
Supervising Technical Education and Skills Development Specialist (Supervising TESDS) Nicolas Sacramento guided the discussion on the difficulties encountered by assessment center managers and assessors and suggested measures to manage relevant risk and maximize opportunities in meeting the targets.
Sir Nic cited examples of violations of the assessment procedures and exhorted the participants to uphold the sanctity of the assessment process to protect the value of TESDA issued National Certificates.
Technical Education and Skills Development Specialist II (TESDS II) Orlando Yangco on the other hand guided the managers on the proper way to fill out the assessment forms recalling the findings from the last ISO audit.
While Technical Education and Skills Development Specialist II (TESDS II) Neila Alibuyog elaborated on the timeline of assessment process and reiterated on the need for complete staff work before applying for compliance audit for the assessment center which happens a year after accreditation and the accreditation expiry year.
Sir Nic also reminded the managers to ascertain the currency of the accreditation as the assessment is void if the accreditation expires during or before the conduct of assessment.
TESDA Tarlac Provincial Director Liza Manio revealed that a new Manual of Operation for Assessment Centers might be released next year.
The PD also encouraged the managers to periodically use a photometer to ensure adequate lighting in the workshops and to keep their shop layout current as required by the training regulation.
An open forum with the TESDA Tarlac PD where issues raised by the newly appointed assessment managers were adequately addressed rounded up the activity.
