Tarlac Provincial Government Wins 2018 TESDA National Kabalikat Award
TAGUIG, Metro Manila – The Provincial Government of Tarlac represented by Engineer Roberto P. Ventura, Provincial Administrator, won the 2018 National Kabalikat Award at the TESDA Institutional Awards Ceremony held at the Tandang Sora Hall, TESDA Women’s Center, Taguig, Metro Manila.
The Kabalikat Award is one of TESDA’s reward mechanisms in giving due recognition and honor to its outstanding partners in the promotion and enhancement of Technical Education and Skills Development (TESD). The award is conferred to outstanding institutions, private firms / companies, Local Government Units (LGUs), National Government Agencies (NGAs), and Development Partners cognizant of their good practices and contribution in the promotion and development of the country’s technical and vocational workers in terms of qualification and/or competencies gained.
The said contributions may be in the form of training scholarships; donation of training machines and equipment; supplies and, materials; recruitment and placement assistance to trainees and certified persons; TESD promotion and advocacy; and other support services in the pursuit of the advancement of Technical Education and Skills Development (TESD).
Deputy Director General Rosanna Urdaneta, in her welcome address, praised the institutional awardees as the vanguard of excellence who will future proof TESDA against an increasingly mediocre world.
TESDA Director General Guiling Mamondiong, in his message, mentioned the recent COA report on scholarship irregularities and reiterated his warning to all TESDAns never to get involved in corrupt practices.
The DG also clarified that the scholarship anomaly happened before his time in TESDA.
In TESDA’s defense, DG Mamondiong assured those present that administrative and criminal charges will be filed against those proven to have violated the public trust and that continuous conduct of audit on absorptive capacity of TVIs will be institutionalized and those who fail to conform will be closed.
Melea Gonzales on the other hand bagged the Best in Training Induction Program and Best in Interview for the TESDA National Tagsanay Award.
Her school Tarlac School of Arts and Trade also won the Tagsanay Award for TVET Institution
